Tuition increases, job cuts proposed under NU budget - KHGI

The University of Nebraska is proposing cuts and a tuition hike in its latest budget. NU President Hank Bounds announced the plan Tuesday. “How we meet the needs of students will be impacted significantly,” he said. Bounds said more than 100 jobs will be cut and the salary gap between NU and peer universities will continue to grow. He said a tuition increase of 5.4% next year and 3.2% the following year are proposed. A cut in the request from the state, collective bargaining and a rise in health insurance costs all contributed to a budget deficit, said Bounds. http://nebraska.tv/news/local/tuition-increases-job-cuts-proposed-under-nu-budget
