BHC approves scaled-down budget - Sarah Hayden, Dispatch Argus

Black Hawk College board of trustees on Thursday approved the 2018 fiscal year budget, noting the dramatic drop in state funding and the impact it is having on the college. The budget report states expenses had to be reduced by $3.6 million during the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years as a result. More than $10 million came from state funding in 2008, dropping to less than $2 million in 2016. "Due to the state budget crisis in Springfield, we are removing high-quality educational options from our students," said college president Dr. Bettie Truitt. "That is the travesty of the situation. That is the bottom line. We're all looking for a budget soon." http://www.qconline.com/news/local/bhc-approves-scaled-down-budget/article_ed43e1e9-2ad9-5063-8c24-ba3f8110b4b8.html
