Despite Budget Bill, Illinois Universities Still Have Funding Issues - Mary Chastain, Legal Insurrection

Some universities have decided to not make any moves until officials “know more precisely how much money for what is coming in.” Northeastern Illinois University has decided not to layoff employees…for now. Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas said the school will continued its “fiscally conservative practices.” Credit agencies downgraded the state of Illinois, but they also downgraded almost all of the universities within the state. Some even received the “junk” status, thus making borrowing almost a thing of the past.
