Long Beach City College board facing tough challenges - The Editorial Board, Long Beach Press Telegram
In its 90-year history, Long Beach City College has experienced many ups and downs and has emerged as one of the premier city colleges in California. But even with that success, LBCC is at another crossroads and facing serious challenges as another semester begins. The most immediate concern is finalizing a budget next month and determining how much in reserves should be spent to balance the budget. As new LBCC Superintendent/President Reagan Romali says, “Financial stability drives everything.” One of the major problems facing LBCC and other community colleges is a decrease or no growth in student enrollment, which means little, if any, increase in money from the state because of an outdated formula still used by the state.
