NU's mileage reimbursement cut will hit extension educators especially hard - Rick Ruggles, World-Herald

Some faculty members in the University of Nebraska system say a big drop in vehicle mileage reimbursement will be a splash in the face. The NU system, dealing with a state budget challenge, intends to drop reimbursement when a faculty member uses his own car from the current 53.5 cents to 25 cents beginning next month. NU hopes to save $550,000 a year by doing this. The decision is especially burdensome for NU extension educators and other faculty members in rural settings. Those employees must drive dozens and sometimes hundreds of miles to programs, meetings and events. http://www.omaha.com/news/education/nu-s-mileage-reimbursement-cut-will-hit-extension-educators-especially/article_cfee1e90-a9e0-5d0e-8903-2d341f36265a.html
