Texas Tech asks administrators for budget cuts of 1 percent - Karen Michael, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

A budget for the upcoming fiscal year at Texas Tech won’t be final until the university system’s board of regents approves it in August, but the office of the Tech president and the chief financial officer asked administrators, faculty and staff to reduce their budgets by 1 percent. In a memo to administrators, President Lawrence Schovanec, Senior Vice President and Provost Michael Galyean and CFO Noel Sloan noted that Texas Tech will see cuts of 3.8 percent for the next two years in part due to trimming to higher education directed by the Texas Legislature in the spring. The university has prioritized maintaining academic faculty and staff positions that provide for instruction and academic support, but no new commitments requested during the spring will be funded. http://lubbockonline.com/news/local-news/education/2017-07-31/texas-tech-asks-administrators-budget-cuts-1-percent
