Chico State class cancellations due to budget deficit perturb staff - Dani Anguiano, Chico Enterprise-Record

Cancellations and changes for Chico State University’s language classes have some staff questioning the administration’s moves, but the dean of the College of Humanities said the changes address a long-standing budget deficit. While there are still sections of French, Spanish, Japanese and Italian available, among other languages, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts has canceled some sections of more advanced courses, and canceled or combined other language courses. In all, 68 courses were canceled, 44 just before the start of the semester. The college cut many of those, HFA Dean Robert Knight said, because they didn’t have the minimum number of students required to offer the class. http://www.chicoer.com/article/NA/20170904/NEWS/170909906
