Falling short of enrollment target won't further hamper NU - budget Lincoln Journal Star

Although the University of Nebraska failed to reach a "conservative estimate" on its enrollment growth this year, President Hank Bounds said the numbers shouldn't further impact the university's budget-cutting process. NU juggled options for closing a $49 million budget shortfall created by a loss of state appropriations and increases to salary and benefits, as well as utility costs, early this year. Eventually, university administrators settled on a plan to cut $30 million in costs over the next two years, while also raising tuition to generate $15 million in added revenue next year and $9 million the year after. Those plans hinged on a conservative estimate of 1 percent enrollment growth across the NU system. http://journalstar.com/news/local/education/falling-short-of-enrollment-target-won-t-further-hamper-nu/article_61477726-b8c9-5ad6-ae57-8494fbaf0ecd.html
