UConn Students Bear Brunt Of Budget Cuts - Susan Herbst, Courant
UConn students are talented, hardworking and relentlessly ambitious. And they are the people who would be most gravely impacted by massive reductions to the university budget contained in the Republican state budget, which was narrowly approved by the General Assembly last week. That's why, on Wednesday evening, well over a thousand UConn students packed into the field house on the Storrs campus and gathered at UConn Health in Farmington to protest the more than $300 million in cuts under the Republican budget. It is their faces and their personal stories that remind us that higher education is more than a line in a budget document; it is an investment in human beings and in the hope and opportunity of Connecticut's youth.
