Education entities asking for funding increase - Bobby Harrison, Daily Journal

State education entities, kindergarten through the university level, will be requesting a funding increase of $436.7 million from the Mississippi Legislature when it convenes the 2018 session in January. All three entities, the state Board of Education on behalf of local K-12 school districts, the community colleges and universities, made their budget requests to the 14-member Legislative Budget Committee Thursday. The committee, which includes Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and House Speaker Philip Gunn, are hearing budget requests from agency heads in advance of developing a budget recommendation later this year for the full Legislature to consider. http://www.djournal.com/news/education-entities-asking-for-funding-increase/article_d09ded4f-993f-5766-84e4-fe9a5f42dcf4.html
