President of ENMU system says budget cuts won't force layoffs - Rita Greene, Ruidoso News

Dr. Jeff Elwell, president of New Mexico University campuses Portales, Roswell and Ruidoso was at the Ruidoso Eastern New Mexico University campus Wednesday, Sept. 27 for a retreat. When Dr. Elwell was asked about how the state budget cuts to higher education this year affect the ENMU system, he said “We didn’t lose any students. New Mexico actually funds education more than many other states. We need to be self-sufficient and be proactive to recruit and retain more students. “We’ve had budget cuts but we get more support from state government than many schools in the other states.
