Wright State to cut swimming and diving program after this season due to budget cuts - Christina Schaefer, Fox 25

Wright State University says the 2017-2018 season will be the final season for men and women's swimming and diving teams due to university-wide budget cuts. In a news release sent out Friday morning, Wright State says student-athletes who stay at the university after Spring of 2018 will be allowed to keep their athletic scholarships even though they're not competing. The university says the decision to cut the programs was a difficult one made by the Department of Athletics and supported by the Office of the President. “In the face of adverse financial conditions, many people who love these student-athletes and programs stepped up this summer to make sure they could compete at Wright State for one more year in 2017-18,” said Bob Grant, director of athletics. Students who wish to transfer may do so and Wright State says it will help with the process. http://fox45now.com/news/local/wright-state-to-cut-swimming-and-diving-program-after-this-season-due-to-budget-cuts
