27 staff and faculty let go at West Virginia Wesleyan College - Leah Nestor, Theet

West Virginia Wesleyan College let 15 employees go and chose not to renew contracts for 12 faculty and staff Monday, officials confirmed. “They are hardworking people. This had nothing to do with their performance or any behavior issues — none of that,” President Joel Thierstein said. “This was simply done in order to address our budgetary concerns,” he said, adding that he hopes no more layoffs are necessary. Impacting the budget is a shift in the demographics of the population and a decrease in population in West Virginia, he said. https://www.theet.com/news/free/staff-and-faculty-let-go-at-west-virginia-wesleyan-college/article_90ae946f-9506-5fe5-8ae9-5e67d015ea7f.html
