Green to offer UNL budget cut proposal on Nov. 15 - CHRIS DUNKER, Lincoln Journal Star
University of Nebraska-Lincoln administrators and faculty leaders will identify $8.5 million in budget cuts by Nov. 15 with the intention of implementing those cuts in the spring semester, the university said Friday. Chancellor Ronnie Green will ask his administrative team to submit budget proposals by Nov. 1, with Green turning over a budget reduction outline to UNL’s Academic Planning Committee in mid-November. As part of the University of Nebraska system’s effort to close a $49 million budget shortfall — created through a loss of state aid, plus cost increases to health insurance premiums and utilities — NU will seek to cut nearly $30 million in nonacademic expenses over the next two years.
