Murray State trying to anticipate future funding issues - Amanda Roberts, WPSD
From pensions to tuition, there are several financial issues facing Murray State University that could end up costing you money. Tuesday, the Board of Regents’ Finance Committee met to discuss those issues. The board did not decide anything Tuesday. It was just a workshop of sorts. There are three main issues facing the university: pensions, how much money they will receive from the state, and tuition. Wrapped up in that is enrollment. Right now, the finance committee has asked all departments across the university to review their budgets and costs. It’s an issue of gathering all the information across campus, creating contingency plans, and trying to be ready for whatever the state decides during the legislative session. Murray State President Bob Davies says he knows a lot of people are very concerned about those important issues among his faculty, staff and students, but he says that’s why they’re meeting now to try and make the best decision when the time comes.
