UConn President Susan Herbst: New Budget Means Eliminating Jobs, Services - Nicholas Rondinone, Courant

In a letter to the community Friday, UConn President Susan Herbst said cuts in this new bipartisan state budget would result in a hiring freeze and the elimination of some jobs and services. Under the budget, passed by the House of Representatives, UConn and UConn Health Center face a cut of roughly $143 million in state money. Though Herbst said this is better than past options, she wrote: “A two-year cut of $143 million is still a very steep reduction.
