UConn Will Slash Spending By $143 Million, Herbst Tells Trustees -Kathleen Megan, Hartford Courant

UConn must reduce spending by $143 million through a hiring freeze and delaying high-cost projects as a result of budget cuts, President Susan Herbst told the university’s board of trustees Wednesday morning. “This most recent budget is a significant improvement over the budget approved in September, which would have cut state support for UConn and UConn Health by $309 million over two years,” Herbst said. “That said, the new budget still includes a reduction for the university totaling at least $143 million over the next two years.” http://www.courant.com/education/hc-uconn-budget-herbst-20171101-story.html
