University of Montana will need to address $600,000 hole in athletic scholarships - KEILA SZPALLE, Missoulian

The Athletics Department at the University of Montana is short $600,000 in scholarship money for the 2019 fiscal year, but campus officials said UM will find a way to patch the hole. "It's something that is fixable," said Ryan Martin, associate athletics director. The shortfall is due to increases in campus costs of about 20 percent along with the relatively newer scholarships for softball, Martin said. In the past six years, he said costs have risen in nonresident tuition, fees, residence halls, and meal plans, and UM started softball, where scholarships cost about $350,000. http://missoulian.com/news/local/university-of-montana-will-need-to-address-hole-in-athletic/article_6806b7c8-8154-5f56-b128-869a6ec90c04.html
