UA leaders respond to budget proposal - Erin Granger, Daily News-Miner
The University of Alaska could be looking at additional budget shortfalls after Alaska Gov. Bill Walker proposed a state contribution of $317 million for the university’s fiscal year 2019 operating budget, the same the university received for 2018. UA President Jim Johnsen released a statement sharing his concern with the governor’s proposal. “A status quo budget will compound the negative impacts of four straight years of budget cuts and limits our ability to make much needed investments in student education, training programs and the economic development our state needs,” Johnsen said.
