Northwestern Michigan College faces declining enrollment - SEAN MILLER , Record-Eagle
Fewer students are filing into classrooms at Northwestern Michigan College after college officials projected the new year will continue an ongoing enrollment decline. The college said registration for students decreased 2.9 percent, or 74 students, going into 2018. “We have been talking about this decline for a number of years,” said Cathryn Claehout, director of admissions. “The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers recently came out with a report showing the state of Michigan will see a 13 percent decrease in high school students graduating until the year 2031. This hurts us.”
