MSSU: Governor's budget cuts would require 20 percent tuition hike to offset - Emily Younker, Joplin Globe

Missouri Southern State University would have to raise tuition by 20 percent next year if it wanted to offset cuts in state appropriations that have been proposed by Gov. Eric Greitens, university administrators told the Board of Governors on Friday. That would equate to an increase of $41 per credit hour, according to information from MSSU President Alan Marble. Tuition is currently offered at an in-state rate of $183.37 per credit hour, meaning that a full-time student taking 30 credit hours over the course of one year pays $5,501.10, excluding fees. A 20 percent tuition hike would mean that same student would pay $6,731.10 per year, an increase of more than $1,000. http://www.joplinglobe.com/news/local_news/mssu-governor-s-budget-cuts-would-require-percent-tuition-hike/article_d16ad92c-9e3c-5098-83cb-9852ecd7bcba.html
