Strategic cost cutting at Morehead State U due to pensions, budget cuts - Glenn Puit, Daily Independent

Morehead State University is tackling some tough fiscal decisions these days in light of Kentucky's budget cuts and an out-of-control pension crisis. The university — like other public institutions and local governments across Kentucky — is dealing with the daunting task of paying for staggering increases in annual pension obligations as the Kentucky state Legislature has, so far, done nothing about the problem. University President Dr. Joseph “Jay” Morgan said the university is facing a $5 million deficit when planning for a cut in state funds combined with a whopping $3.2 million increase in pension costs per year. This, in turn, led the university to work with its faculty and staff to figure out ways to reduce costs. http://www.dailyindependent.com/news/strategic-cost-cutting-at-msu-due-to-pensions-budget-cuts/article_5cf88a24-1363-11e8-b1bd-2fe73c8520c5.html
