Time to stand up for UA - Fairbanks Daily News-miner

It’s not the best fiscal environment right now in Juneau, especially because the Legislature continues to avoid making the hard decisions necessary to solve the state’s persistent multibillion-dollar budget shortfall. But legislators should, as they listen to what President Johnsen says, think about the impact that the recent years of budget cuts have had on the university and how that impact might worsen if the trend isn’t reversed. Academic programs have been cut or consolidated. The university administration has been cut by about 40 percent in four years.
