UW-Oshkosh proposes plan to close $9.5 million budget gap over two years - Devi Shastri, Oshkosh Northwestern
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh leaders aim to fill a $9.5 million budget hole through a combination of spending cuts and revenue increases. The three-phase plan, which Chancellor Andrew Leavitt announced in a blog post Monday, would put the university in the black for the first time since the 2014 fiscal year. It includes $8.5 million in spending cuts across two years, $2.5 million of which would take effect in July. The university will also aim to raise $1 million in ongoing revenue. Last year, the university’s budget was about $240 million. “This is a way of being proactive and not reactive,” Leavitt said.
