Tuition hike likely at IWCC with drops in students, state funding - Tim Johnson, Non Parareil

Iowa Western Community College students will likely face a tuition hike for the 2018-19 school year. The college’s board of trustees approved a preliminary budget at its regular meeting Monday at the Council Bluffs Campus. Tuition rates won’t be set until April or May, but Iowa Western has experienced a decline in its two main sources of revenue — tuition, which accounts for 59 percent of its revenue; and state aid, which makes up 32 percent, said Eddie Holtz, vice president of finance. About 5 percent of the college’s revenue comes from local property taxes. The remaining 4 percent comes from federal funding, grants and other sources. “Right now, we’re looking at a projected tuition increase of 6.9 percent,” he said. “We’re hoping to keep it lower than that.” http://www.nonpareilonline.com/news/education/tuition-hike-likely-at-iwcc-with-drops-in-students-state/article_5c08b7dc-176a-11e8-9a42-d70c07d816f8.html
