WKU Police working through budget cuts to keep campus safe - Sean Baute, WBKO
The WKU Police Department was one of many departments affected by a $15 million budget shortfall at Western Kentucky University. Nearly 120 full-time positions were eliminated throughout the university, which is less than initially thought by President Timothy Caboni. Many of those positions were already vacant, including two of them inside the WKU Police Department. We may not be able to do everything that we want to do in a perfect world, but we're going to go with what we got," said Officer Tim Gray. Gray also said the two positions that were eliminated had been vacant for about a year now, so they've already been able to adjust, and that student safety will not move from the top of their priority list.
