Eastern Michigan students walk out in protest of athletics, staff cuts - Martin Slagter, mLive

Eastern Michigan University students have called on the university's administration and Board of Regents to reconsider eliminating four sports teams, around 60 cuts to staff and to listen to their voices when considering tough budget decisions. Around 50 EMU students, including members of a number of sports teams, walked out of class Thursday morning, March 29, in protest of cutting its wrestling, men's swimming and diving, softball and women's tennis programs. EMU announced the cuts last week, estimating that eliminating the sports will ultimately save the university $2.4 million as it looks to eliminate a budget shortfall between $4.5 and $5.5 million. http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2018/03/emu_students_hold_walkout_in_p.html
