Albany-based Excelsior College seeks footing amid shifting higher education landscape - Rick Karlin , Times Union

The distance learning school is down 100 jobs in two years. Excelsior College was ahead of its time back in 1971 when it was created to serve adult students through what was then known as distance learning. The school became a pioneer in on-line education and its focus on career skills has since become the norm across much of the nation’s higher education landscape.
