Long Beach City College slashes deficit, looks to balance budget by fall - HARRY SALTZGAVER, Grunion Gazette

When Dr. Reagan Romali took over last fall as superintendent-president at Long Beach City College, she was faced with a multi-million-dollar deficit in the 2017-2018 budget. That budget was balanced largely through the use of reserves. Then the real work of dealing with the deficit structurally began. LBCC recently announced that more than half of a $10.7 million deficit had been eliminated. And, Romali said in a release, the rest of the deficit could be eliminated before the 2018-19 fiscal year begins. “We’ve been able to reduce $5.9 million from our deficit without layoffs or cuts to instructional programs,” Romali said in the release. “In the next few months, we will address the remaining structural deficit and get LBCC back on solid financial ground.” https://www.presstelegram.com/2018/07/13/long-beach-city-college-slashes-deficit-looks-to-balance-by-fall/
