Morehead State University President Jay Morgan reported to the institution’s Board of Regents last month that he had to cut nearly $10 million in personnel costs to balance the budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year. Morehead State University says that job eliminations, reorganizations, layoffs and resignations have reduced MSU’s authorized number of faculty and staff positions from 1,010 on July 1, 2017, when Morgan became president, to 854 on June 30 of this year, a decrease of 156 jobs or almost 15 percent.
