Plans call for the John C. Pair Horticulture Center at 1901 E. 95th St. South to close due to budget shortfalls. The Derby City Council passed a resolution last week asking that K-State officials to delay a closure and develop a plan for financial sustainability. The city is on record asking Kansas State University officials to rethink their decision to close a horticultural center just southwest of Derby. At issue is the recently announced intent by the university to shut the John C.
