utgers raises tuition by 2.3 percent for upcoming school year - Catherine Carrera, NorthJersey

Rutgers University leaders decided Wednesday to raise tuition and fees for students by 2.3 percent, or $337, as it has for the last few years. The Board of Governors approved a $4.36 billion budget, which university officials said is a 4.6 percent increase from last year. The 2018-2019 tuition hike is on par with the increases the university has issued over the last five years, said Kathy Dettloff, the vice president of financial planning and budgeting at the university. The national average for tuition and fees at a public four-year college for an in-state student is about $8,022, according to the most recent federal Department of Education data. The increase approved by the board brings that cost to nearly $15,000 for an in-state student. https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/2018/07/18/rutgers-considers-tuition-fee-increases/793922002/
