Cowley College disputes reports of budget shortfall, affirms confidence in enrollment numbers - Adam Catlin, Wellington Daily News
When reached this afternoon, she said, “There is no $955,406 shortfall in the operating budget of Cowley College. What was our initial first closing of the 2018-2019 operating budget, it looked like we were going to have a $955,406 budget shortfall, but that did not come to fruition once we had completed our final monthly closing entries. The first closing trial balance was pulled early and before the accountant (who was out sick) finished making the monthly adjusting entries to the operating budget. The adjusting entries are normal and routine transactions completed throughout the month, and at the end of the each month. The reason we pulled the trial balance early was to prepare the operating budget financial reports because the July 2018 board meeting was moved up instead of being on the third Monday of the month.”
