Montana Tech looks to cut faculty positions to compensate for declining enrollment, budgets - TED McDERMOTT, Montana Standard

With that approximately 6 percent cut in the size of the faculty, Chancellor Blackketter argued the university would be able to increase its student-to-faculty ratio from 14 to 1 to 16 to 1, thereby reducing the amount it spends on faculty salaries, freeing up some much needed funds, making up for budget shortfalls, and putting the university more closely in line with other Montana University System schools. While the university’s plan for how to make cuts has not been finalized, Blackketter acknowledged in his October address that the talk of reducing faculty has created concern on campus. “I know that people are anxious, and I understand that,” Blackketter said. “But the process is working its way through.” https://mtstandard.com/news/local/montana-tech-looks-to-cut-faculty-positions-to-compensate-for/article_25db10ac-f950-54c9-b8db-cde18229e442.html
