Western Illinois, Chicago State seek more state money even as enrollment declines - Cole Lauterbach, Illinois News Network

Despite falling enrollment and staff cuts, Western Illinois University is asking the state for funding increases well above that of what Gov. J.B. Pritzker has proposed. Pritzker’s proposed budget includes a 5 percent increase in funding to all schools. State Rep. LaShawn Ford, who chairs the House Appropriations Higher Education Committee, said Thursday that Illinois’ public universities need more than $100 million in additional funds just to operate at last year’s budgets. https://www.ilnews.org/news/schools/western-illinois-chicago-state-seek-more-state-money-even-as/article_867539a0-6d0e-11e9-b9f0-e389731e7be0.html
