Faculty members returned to ECU's campus Friday morning for a convocation that honored excelling faculty members and addressed the troubled year ahead with budget cuts and a hiring freeze. "A university cannot be all about having students who absorb knowledge that already exists, but, also the creation of knowledge. Which, you in all your varied ways through all of our departments, colleges, and schools do," says Interim Chancellor Dan Gerlach. Gerlach spoke about the budget cut the university is facing and the current hiring freeze due to a state budget that is still in limbo.
