Western Michigan University President Edward Montgomery laid out his vision for the university in WMU's annual State of the University address on Sept. 20, 2019. Montgomery said the university is facing challenges to attract students. "Unfortunately we're in a trying time," Montgomery said. The university's enrollment has seen a steady decline since the early 2000's. Montgomery said enrollment is down 4.8% from last year.
