Nearly $10 million in budget reductions to cut deficit spending at the state’s 12 community colleges made this summer came mostly from personnel cuts and fringe benefits for both full- and part-time employees. The two-year institutions in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system were instructed this summer to cut their deficit spending for the 2020 fiscal year from an estimated $19.6 million to $8 million. The reductions presented at a Board of Regents meeting recently totaled $9.4 million.
