Gov. Mike DeWine announced on May 5 that $775 million is being cut from the biennial budget over the next two months in an effort to ease the burden of sharply declining tax collections. The higher education budget is being reduced by $110 million, or 3.8% across the board. Office of Budget and Management Director Kimberly Muernieks said the pandemic resulted in state tax collections dropping $867 million below estimates for April. System-wide, according to the Office of Budget and Management, Ohio State is losing $14,921,919 over the next two months. It's total original appropriation for Fiscal Year 2020 was $392,370,799.
