Kent State raising tuition 4.1% for new students - KRISTA S. KANO, Akron Beacon Journal

Kent State University’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved a 4.1% tuition hike for new students to help offset financial troubles caused by the coronavirus pandemic and state cuts. President Todd Diacon told the board that unexpected coronavirus-related expenses and a 20% reduction in state funding cost the university $22 million in the current fiscal year, which ends June 30. The university recouped $9 million from federal CARES Act funding, leaving $13 million to cover.
