Penn projects $91M budget deficit for FY21 in addition to $47M loss from spring 2020 - Ashley Ahn and Pia Singh, Daily Pennsylvanian

After suffering a $47 million loss this spring due to the coronavirus outbreak, Penn is projecting a $91 million budget deficit for fiscal year 2021. The unplanned $47 million loss in spring 2020 emanates from costs including housing and dining rebates, technology to facilitate remote learning, financial assistance to staff and contracted workers, and grants made to small West Philadelphia businesses.
