An arbitrator on Friday sided with the University of Akron administration in its termination of nearly 100 unionized faculty this summer. The ruling was announced late Friday afternoon. Sixty-seven faculty who were on the university’s cut list as of July 15 and have not since retired will not be able to return to their jobs as a result. “There are 67 people who are heartbroken,” now-former faculty member Susan Ramlo, one of the names on the cut list, said following the ruling.
