Florida colleges plan for budget cuts amid falling revenue - Lexi Nahl, CBS 12

Since the pandemic, the Board of Governors asked all state colleges to plan for an 8.5 percent budget reduction during the 2021 fiscal year, and to identify possible 10 percent that can be cut from their proposed plans for the 2022 fiscal year. For Florida Atlantic University, that means holding back spending $18.1 million. The school has had to make some budget cuts within its Athletic Department, but hasn't had to slash any degree programs, unlike schools like the University of South Florida, where the College of Education has been revamped and will morph into a graduate school program.
