Professors, students and alumni protest budget cuts at Connecticut’s state universities - AMANDA BLANCO, HARTFORD COURANT

Professors, students and alumni from Connecticut’s regional universities gathered Wednesday to protest increased budget cuts to faculty and staff and to call on elected state officials to provide the universities additional financial help as they struggle with coronavirus-driven deficits. Patty O’Neill, president of the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors, said members of the school communities should be celebrating that they’ve made it to midterms. Instead, they met on the steps of Davidson Hall at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain because “the core mission of the four state universities is being threatened.”
