UNC has not had a balanced budget for nearly a decade — but as multi-million dollar financial challenges loom, it plans to achieve one. Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz announced in January that the University will cut operating funds by 7.5 percent and personnel funds by 1.5 percent in both this fiscal year and the next in order to eliminate its $100 million structural deficit.
