Priority for the next Missouri State budget? Playing 'catch-up' on faculty, staff pay - Claudette Riley, Springfield News-Leader

 During the tenure of Missouri State President Clif Smart, annual inflation increases have totaled 17.5 percent. During the same period, annual cost-of-living increases for faculty and staff have totaled 12.2 percent, plus one-time payments totaling $1,200. "I'd like to think we've all done pretty well during some really hard budget times," Smart said during the university's Board of Governors meeting Friday. "But we have increased compensation, in the time I've been president, by less than inflation."
