A task force comprising Board of Regents staff, business leaders, and legislators convened in Sioux Falls as a clearer picture of recommendations for saving the state money on its higher education budget emerged. The report is due at year's end. A task force primed to trim any fat from South Dakota's public universities' budgets is inching closer to concrete recommendations, ranging from consolidating West River nursing programs under one Rapid City roof and clumping all the campuses on the same food vendor's contract.
