A higher education budget proposal approved by the Michigan House of Representatives would cut nearly $40 million for the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus, while keeping overall operations aid nearly flat. The decrease in funding for UM-Ann Arbor represents a 12.2% decrease from the $322 million it received in state aid this fiscal year, and the proposal does little to advance the state’s goals around improved postsecondary education, UM President Mark Schlissel said.
