OTC board raises tuition for next year to 'maintain' course offerings - Claudette Riley, News-Leader

The OTC Board of Trustees voted Monday to increase tuition for general education courses, nearly half of all courses offered, by $6 a credit hour. Those courses will now start at $128 per credit hour for students who live in the OTC taxing district. "We started, frankly, at a higher number," said OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon. He said the higher tuition amount is about maintenance of the existing OTC offerings and not growth. "This is not putting extra dollars in the bank. This is to maintain what we currently do plus any new programs that we have going on next year," he said. "We made a decision not to touch registration fee, tech fee, infrastructure fee or security fee. We think it's more transparent to try and put it all in tuition."
