U of Saskatchewan won't balance budget by raising tuition - Ashley Wills, CKOM
Jobs will be lost and programs could get cut, but the University of Saskatchewan will not raise tuition to balance its budget. The school is looking to cut costs in order to avoid a projected deficit of $44.5 million over the next three years. "This is an anxious time for people, we want to make sure we demonstrate a lot of care for people," said Barb Daigle, associate vice-president of human resources at the University of Saskatchewan. The job cuts will not come at once, so that the school can take time to deal with people respectfully. Cuts will be done in phases -- the current phase will affect 40 staff members and save $2.3 million per year.
